You will need to have a UK (or international equivalent) undergraduate degree with honours, as well as two years' relevant work experience in a professional, managerial or supervisory role for entry into our MBA programmes. Alternatively, you may also be eligible if you can demonstrate at least three years’ relevant work experience in a professional, managerial or supervisory role.

Our degree programmes are offered as part-time study only.
Our programmes are not third party accredited. There is however, a system of quality assurance delivered by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education and Aberystwyth University is legally recognised by the UK government as a degree-awarding body.
Our degree programmes have six start dates each year, so you will be able to get your studies started soon after your application is accepted. You can find the next start date on our homepage.
Our degree programmes are designed to be completed in 24 months part-time.
Our degree courses are 180 credit units (UK credit units as set out by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education).
While a Master's degree will help to open doors with employment as well as study, you'll need to check the specific entry requirements of the programme and institution you are interested in to find out if our programmes are acceptable for entry.
Yes, you will be required to complete an independent research project as part of your final 30-credit module.
No. Your degree certificate will not state you have studied online and will look the same as those of students who study on-campus.
Entry requirements
Our entry requirements vary by degree. Check the full entry requirements for each programme on the programme's page.
If your first language is not English, or most recent education or work experience was not in English, you will need to demonstrate proficiency in English by completing an approved English language test such as IELTS (6.0 overall with no individual sub-scores under 5.5), Pearson Test of English Academic (no less than 59 in each component), or equivalent.
Yes, you will need to submit evidence of three years' experience in a professional or managerial role for an MBA programme, or two years' relevant work experience for an MSc Computer Science programme, with your application.
You may be able to apply for credit for prior learning. You will be required to apply for credit against specified modules on the programme. You will then need to demonstrate that you have achieved the learning objectives of that module and that your previous study is at the same level.
Our degree programmes are entirely online – you will not require a visa while you study with us.

You will need to provide either a copy of the transcript of your highest academic qualification or evidence of your work experience. You will also be required to provide photographic ID in order to register as a student.

If you are applying based on work experience, you may be asked to provide contact details of a reference(s) to demonstrate the required work history.
We aim to provide a decision within two days of receiving your application. In some instances we may need to refer your application to another team for further consideration. It may take up to a week to reach a decision in these cases.

Receiving an offer
You are accepting your offer and agreeing to Aberystwyth University's Terms and Conditions (you will receive a copy of these with your offer), by completing payment and registering on the module.
Yes, you can defer your offer for up to one year.
Fees and payment
Our tuition fees vary by programme and are displayed at the top of each programme page. Find and select your programme to view its cost.
You will have until the last Thursday before the module starts to pay for it.
You can pay your fees on your Student Dashboard, where you completed your application.
You can pay per module for your studies, so you can spread out the cost over the course of your studies.
You can pay your fees per module by credit or debit card.
No. Students of our online degree programmes pay the same fees regardless of location.
If you change your mind between applying for your programme and enrolling, you are entitled to a full refund. If however, you decide not to continue your studies after starting your first module, you have 14 calendar days to request a refund. In other cases, please speak to your student success co-ordinator via email or by contacting 0808 164 8484 (UK) or +44 1978 802 804 (international) – they will be able to advise on your entitlement to a refunds based on your individual circumstances.

Yes, your employer can sponsor you on your degree programme.
Yes, you can claim a 10% alumni discount on an Aberystwyth online degree programme if you have completed an undergraduate programme with us.

Studying online
Canvas, our online learning management platform.
You will have access to a discussion board in Canvas, our online learning management platform, where you will be able to get in touch and interact with your classmates.
You should allow at least 150 notional study hours (or approximately, 21 hours' study time per week) for an 8-week (15-credit) module.
Modules run every eight weeks (with a 2-week break in both August and December/January). They are seven weeks in length, with the final assessment due on day one of week eight.
Each module includes a variety of learning activities. You should expect a mixture of reading, short video lectures, interactive eLearning and quizzes. You should also expect to undertake a number of discussion board activities with your tutors and fellow students..
Due to the flexible, online nature of the schemes, the assessment will comprise:
- MBA programmes – end of unit quizzes consisting of 10 multiple choice questions per unit, a final module examination consisting of 45 multiple choice questions per module, and applied learning assignments designed to replicate real-world business challenges.
- MSc Computer Science programmes – written assignments (essays), programming assignments (development of a software artefact and an accompanying written report), and quizzes.
The delivery of our online programmes is entirely asynchronous. This means there are no live, scheduled classes and you are able to study all components of the course at a time and place that suits you.
Content will be regularly reviewed and updated. Please report any errors or broken links to our service desk.
Access to learning materials, including course reading, is designed to rely on open-source materials. You will not be required to buy textbooks. Online students will be able to access select e-resources through Aberystwyth University library services.
No, you will not need to attend campus to complete your programme requirements. Online students are welcome to visit campus however, if they'd like to.
Online student engagement is monitored through Canvas however, Aberystwyth University does not formally monitor attendance.

Academic support
Aber Online's academic tutors guide our online learners through their modules. They offer academic guidance, answer any queries related to academic content, mark summative and formative assessments, deliver weekly announcements and summaries, facilitate discussion forums, liaise with academic colleagues, and escalate issues where appropriate. You will be able to contact your module tutor via Canvas, our online learning platform. Your tutor will monitor completion of tasks and provide regular feedback on assessment performance and also responds to discussion on the dedicated forums on Canvas.
