    Admission requirements

    Entry requirements 

    To study Aberystwyth’s 100% online MSc Psychology of Mental Health and Wellbeing you will need to have completed:

    A recognised undergraduate or postgraduate degree (or equivalent qualification) from an accredited college, institution, or university, equivalent to or higher than a UK bachelor’s degree with honours at 2:2 or above.

    English language requirements

    International students may need to provide evidence of their English language ability to study on this programme*. We accept the following qualifications (or equivalents): 

    •    IELTS 6.0 overall with no band below 5.5 
    •    Pearson PTE 55 overall minimum 
    •    Other recognised tests including TOEFL, LanguageCert and Cambridge qualifications 

    You must have completed your English test within two years of your programme start date. 

    *You may not need to provide evidence if you’re from a majority English-speaking country or have completed a degree in English within seven years of your intended start date. 

    Modules

    Personality and Individual Differences
    This module focuses on what makes each person unique. You’ll examine major models of personality, assess how traits are measured and evaluate how individual differences relate to behaviour and mental health. The module encourages critical thinking around the strengths and limitations of personality theory and assessment.
    Social Psychology
    Explore how individuals think, feel and behave in social contexts, including how attitudes form, why people conform and how group dynamics influence behaviour. The module introduces major social psychological theories and empirical studies. You’ll also apply concepts to real-world issues such as prejudice, persuasion and social influence.
    Quantitative Research Methods
    Develop your understanding of quantitative research design, statistical analysis and data interpretation. You’ll learn how to formulate research questions, choose appropriate methods and conduct analyses using relevant software. Ethical principles and professional research standards are emphasised throughout.
    Brain and Behaviour
    You’ll explore how the brain and nervous system shape behaviour, from neuronal communication to how different brain regions support cognition and emotion.     Psychology Research Project
    Design, conduct and report an independent research project under supervision.
